Getting Married This Fall?

Fall weddings are stunning! Most of the time, you can count on pleasant weather and beautiful colors. It’s no surprise that September-November is the new June-August. Who wouldn’t trade a 90 degree day with a high risk of pop up thunderstorms for a sunny and 75 degree day? If you are getting married this fall, we are sure that both your excitement and stress levels are rising. Here are two things to keep in mind that will help you in the final planning stages of your fall wedding!

You Can Get Creative With Food

Since it’s more than likely not going to be 90 degrees outside during the reception of your fall wedding, you can get creative with food options with less stress. For example, chocolate dipped fruits or decadent, iced cupcakes stand a better chance of surviving the night of an outdoor reception when the humidity and temperatures are lower. Forget worrying about keeping extra bags of ice in a tacky cooler on site in hopes of preserving the fruit or “sweets” table.

You can even throw in a fire-pit if your venue allows! Maybe plan to offer guests the opportunity to make their own wedding smores with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee to wrap up the evening.

Factor In Time Change

Is your wedding right in the middle of the time change? No worries. Make sure that you include a friendly reminder note in both the save the date and the formal invitations. If you have a wedding website, make sure to mention the time change on that platform as well. It is also a good rule of thumb to check in with all vendors 2 weeks before the wedding to make sure that all orders are secured and that delivery times are established and understood.

Remember that the time change will affect the daylight hours. For example, an outdoor wedding in Cleveland, Tennessee at 6PM in July will look a lot different than a wedding at 6PM in November. It begins to get darker earlier in the fall. This can make for an awesome reception though with sparklers, lanterns, string lights, and so much more!
